a forced winter

is it wrong of me to want it to feel
like winter?
i guess maybe if i lived somewhere
that was cold all of the time
i would long for
these sunny days,
but you can't blame a girl for
trying.
so i will continue to:

bake bread,

sew winter-inspired projects

and keep my snowflakes up

in an effort to winter-ize my little corner of the world.
now does any one else have any bright ideas????

yes, he is somehow sleeping with a huge Christmas light in his face.

that's quite a bright idea, isn't it?

let it snow!

i know for many of you the snow thing is no big deal because you have it all of the time, but you must understand that in california, it is a rare treat.
yesterday we were giddy as we spied this on the mountains closest to our home.

so you can imagine our surprise today, while visiting with friends, when cries of, "it's snowing outside!!!" came from the kids. they could not put their boots and jackets on fast enough and they were out in the freezing cold in an instant. and boy was it COLD! we spent the whole drive home in awe of the gracefully falling flakes, little though they were. everything looks so much prettier when covered in a white, frosty blanket.
it was truly the perfect ending to a perfect day!
